Our story
ENTOMOL — the Agricultural Entomology Research Group in Eastern Maranhão — is a research, education, outreach and innovation group based at IFMA Codó Campus. It brings students and researchers together around real agricultural challenges, with emphasis on agricultural entomology and acarology, natural products, pest management and scientific tools.
How we do science
Our work integrates organism rearing, toxicity, repellency and biological assays, extraction and characterization of essential oils, laboratory and semi-field experiments, stored-product pest studies, ecotoxicology, data analysis and modelling. This integrated approach connects experimental design, biological observation, analysis and scientific communication.
Training and collaboration
Training new researchers is central to ENTOMOL. Students participate in undergraduate research, final projects, master’s and doctoral research, outreach and science communication. Interinstitutional collaborations broaden access to infrastructure, expertise and new research questions.
Our purpose
To produce high-quality science from Maranhão, train people and turn knowledge into more sustainable alternatives for agriculture. At ENTOMOL, biodiversity, experimentation, technology and collaboration are part of the same process.
